About LIONHEART ANDALUSIANS

Our Ranch is located in Lake Mathews, California, near Riverside. We are situated on 10 acres overlooking Lake Mathews reservoir. Riding access is available right from our property, and we regularly train our young horses and foals with "familiarization" on trail and ponying through the open trails surrounding our area. Each of our young horses is trained using the methods of natural horsemanship partnership training, so that when they are eventually placed or when they begin work a bond of trust is well established.

What attracted us to the Pure Spanish Horse from the beginning was and is the Spanish Horse natural characteristics; nobility, athleticism, and temperament. Our primary goal is to breed and import the type of functional horse that can hold its own in open class dressage competition. Through the "eyes and ears" of our partners in Spain, as well as careful breeding and careful selection, Lionheart Andalusians can offer horses of quality and character.

Profile Background on Cheryl & Cameron English

Cheryl English has been around horses and competing in sport horse related eventing for over 30 years. While very young, Cheryl established herself within the competitive environment of Hunter/Jumpers in the Southern Orange County Equestrian community. Cheryls' background included showing and competing on Hunter/Jumpers, working with Warmbloods and Sport Horses for eventing and showing for the past 20 years. Her knowledge of horse anatomy and morphology come from a lifetime of being around horses. Cheryl now works with our import Spanish Horses in training and development exclusively for dressage, and trains with both our mares and Stallions. At Lionheart Ranch we look first for horses that move, second for horses of strong conformation/character (built to handle the rigors of sport competition) and finally for confirmation/color.

Cameron English works with Cheryl to train the young horses in hand and in preparation for beginning under saddle. John Lyons "perfect horse" philosophy is instilled in each and every horse on our property. Cameron works to develop good manners in all our horses, including our weanlings and yearlings.
